What does Domain-Driven Design model?

DDD addresses complex business rules through shared language and models with explicit boundaries, developed with domain experts. A term has consistent meaning within a bounded context but can mean something else elsewhere.

A concrete example

A customer in sales need not share the same model as an account in billing. Discuss rules and boundaries first; DDD does not require splitting every application into microservices.

Sales.Customer ≠ Billing.Account

Explain it yourself

Which model should own an order cancellation rule, and why?

How to study this

Write your reasoning first. Check the original documentation, identify an assumption, then try a different example. Reading this page does not count as verified skill evidence.
